Local duo among N/S all-stars

COLUMBUS — The football constellation above Crew Stadium will have two local stars.
Ironton Fighting Tigers running back Darius Lewis and Rock Hill Redmen running back K.C. Christian will join the high school football elite Saturday as they play in the annual Ohio High School Football Coaches Association North/South All-Star Game.
Besides the two local players, Rock Hill head coach Todd Knipp will serve as an assistant coach for the South All-Star team.
The game will be played at Columbus Crew Stadium at 7 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $10 for the game, which is sponsored by Grange Insurance.
Lewis, a 6-foot, 220-pound senior running back, was a two-time Division IV All-Ohio first team selection. He was the Southeast district Offensive Player of the Year in his junior and senior seasons.
Lewis signed to play at Marshall University. He was Mark Snyder’s first recruit as the Herd head coach.
Lewis ran 203 times for 1,439 yards and scored 22 touchdowns in 12 games. Ironton finished 10-3 and regional runners-up.
Christian, a 6-foot, 195-pound senior running back, was a first team all-district pick and special mention All-Ohio.
A first team All-Ohio Valley Conference honoree, Christian ran 193 times for 1,384 yards and scored 18 touchdowns.
Knipp, in his second season as the Rock Hill head coach, guided the Redmen to a 9-2 record, the Ohio Valley Conference championship and a berth in the Division IV playoffs.
