Wilson graduates from basic training

Army Reserve Pvt. Stefanie A. Wilson has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, she studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

She is the daughter of Richard and Anne Wilson of State Route 93, Ironton.

Wilson is a 2003 graduate of Monroe Township High School, N.J.

Taylor promoted within Air Force

FORT MEADE, Md. — U.S. Air Force Major Angela Taylor was recently promoted to her present rank while serving as chief of the Deployment Review and Field Site Support Division of Headquarters, National Security Agency, Ft. Meade, Md.

She is the daughter of Jacob and Cheryl Pritchet Taylor of Springfield and the niece of Marshall and Frank Taylor of Ironton.

She is a 1995 graduate of Howard University in Washington, D.C., with a bachelor’s degree in biology.

She also graduated from Springfield South High class of 1991 and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree.
