Ronald McDonald greeted kids during an afternoon session of the monthly immunization clinic at the Lawrence County Health Department Tuesday.
McDonald appeared as part of “Immunize for Healthy Lives,” a national program of the American Academy of Pediatrics, National Association of County and City Health Officials and McDonalds Restaurants’ owners.
Mary Jon Holtzapfel, RN, Immunization Coordinator for the Lawrence County Health Department, said this is the second year of partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities.
“All kids love to go to McDonalds, and it’s a great way to promote something vital for kids,” Holtzapfel said. “… We are actively working to raise the county overall rate of
immunizations to the national and state goals of having 90 percent of all 2 year olds up-to-date for their age by 2010. They are our most vulnerable population, but also the hardest to track.”
The health department hosts a monthly walk-in immunization clinic.
