Rucker earns athletic conference award

MARIETTA — The Ohio Athletic Conference league office recently announced its 2006 men’s basketball academic awards.

Marietta College’s Matt Rucker, originally from the Proctorville/Chesapeake area, was given an Academic All-OAC honorable mention.

Rucker is a junior petroleum engineering major. Rucker, who played center on the team, finished the year averaging 8.7 points. He also wrapped up the regular season ranked 12th in rebounding with 5 rebounds per game, 8th in field goal percentage at .550 and 3rd in block shot at 1.2 per game among OAC players.

To be eligible for the Academic All-OAC, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA, be a star or key reserve, and be in at least his or her second year of participation in the sport.
