Gospel sing set for Saturday

You say you have nothing to do on a Saturday night? Two local gospel music fans want to change that.
The third annual Gospel Singing by the River celebration will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at 1925 Gallia Pike (old U.S. 52), Franklin Furnace.
“There is no particular church involved, we just want people to come and enjoy some good music,” said Tom Stamper, who organized the concert along with Mike Sparks.
The free concert will feature nationally known recording artist Mike Upright and local gospel artist Amber Sparks.
“Mike travels all over, and he’s really talented,” Stamper said. “We were fortunate to get him to come the last couple years and he’s coming back this year.”
In addition to the music, the Rev. Chad Pemberton will speak during the evening’s event.
Refreshments will be provided. Those who attend are asked to bring lawn chairs. There will be a tent for people to sit under as shelter from the heat.
