Coal Grove- Edna Faye Bowman Snell, 71, of Coal Grove passed away Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, at her residence. The Lawrence County native was born March 14, 1935, the daughter of the late Alva Ray and Margaret Arthur Bowman. She was the widow of Harold L. Snell.

She lived in the Lawrence County area all her life, attended South Point Schools and was of the Methodist faith.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Snell; two sons, Harold E. Snell and Roger Snell; one sister: Avanelle Bowman and one brother, Rick Bowman.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter in law, Terry and Patricia Snell and Mike Snell, all of Coal Grove; one daughter and son in law, Cheryl and Jerry Pancake of Ironton; one daughter in law, Linda Snell of Columbus; three brothers and two sisters in law, Tom Bowman and Phillip and Reba Bowman, both of South Point and Jerry and Edith

Bowman of Piketon; three sisters and a brother in law, Betty Bartrum of Ironton, Linda and Floyd Rosenbalm of Hamilton and Bonnie Hill of Urbana; 10 grandchildren; 6 step- grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton, with the Rev. Rob Hale officiating. Burial will follow in Haverhill Cemetery. Friends may call after noon at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed at www.phillipsfuneralhome.

Fern L. Cooper

Fern L. Cooper, 66, of Ironton passed away Friday Aug. 25, 2006 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.. She was born May 29, 1940 in Ironton, the daughter of the late Alex and Flossie Legg Jones

She was a homemaker and attended Dawson Bryant Schools. She was a Girl Scout volunteer and loved flowers and reading and has spent all of her life in the Ironton area.

She was preceded in death by her parents,

one daughter, Annie Jones; one brother, Charles L. Jones; and one sister, Juanita Jones.

She is also survived by seven sons and six daughters-in-law, Charles and Tammy Hones of Ironton; Robert Jones of Ironton, Ray and Vickie Cooper of Forestdale, Ohio, Eddie and Cindy Cooper of Ironton, Brian and Victoria Cooper of Hanging Rock, Eric and Donna Cooper of Proctorville and Tony and Crystal Cooper of Lakeland, Fla.; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Diana Petty of South Point, Lisa and Mike Boyd of Lakeland, Fla., Bonnie and Robert Friend of Lakeland, Fla. and Becky Friend of Lakeland, Fla.; one brother and sister-in-law, Alex J. and Carol Jones of Toronto, Ohio. She is also survived by: a nephew, James Phillips Jones of Toronto, Ohio, 32 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service is at 10:30 a.m. Monday at LaGrange Cemetery with Pastor Gene Easterling officiating. There is no visitation and Phllips Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

Robert Belville

Robert E. Belville, 75, of Ironton died Aug. 25, 2006 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va.

John Turley

Oct. 13, 1954-Aug. 24, 2006

ASHLAND, Ky. — John Turley, 51, of Ashland passed away Aug. 24, 2006, at his residence. The Ironton, Ohio, native was born Oct. 13, 1954, the son of the late Clyde and Laura Blank Turley.

John was a retired sales associate after working for Ashland Oil Refinery, Begleys Home Health Care and Mike’s Auto Sales. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ironton and a 1972 graduate of Ironton High School. He also attended The Ohio State University for two years. He grew up in Ironton then moved to Ashland in 1998.

He is survived by one daughter, Traci Turley of Ashland; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Diana and Howard Schrager of Cincinnati, Ohio, Kathy and Don Conner of Ashland and Lolly and Don Rist of Richmond; one granddaughter, Madison Sheppard; a special nephew, George Conner of Ashland; six other nieces and nephews; six grand-nieces and -nephews; three cousins, Patty Morris Kimble of Loveland, Colo.; Dr. Joyce Blank of Mexico City, Mexico; and Fred Newman of Ashland; and many special friends.

Friends may call after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sharon Baptist Church, 2010 So. Fifth Street, Ironton with a memorial service at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Steve Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101. NEW BOSTON — Cecil Ackison, 74, of New Boston, formerly of Ironton, died Aug. 24, 2006. Arrangements are pending at Brown Funeral Chapel.

Orville Lee Henson

CHESAPEAKE — Orville Lee Henson, 58, of Chesapeake died Aug. 25, 2006. He was the husband of Marilyn Henson, who survives. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Hall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery.
