Anthony Shipkosky said he and his coworkers know there are people in the community who are in need, that’s why they decided to do something about it.

Rent-2-Own, 319 S. Third St. in Ironton, where Shipkosky is the manager, is having a clothes giveaway beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday and lasting until 5 p.m. or until all the clothes are gone. Clothing of all sizes will be available.

“With gas prices being the way they are and school starting, I don’t know how some people are going to make it,” Shipkosky said. “I can see how some people struggle and that’s why we wanted to do something about it.”

The business’ seven employees wanted to show they cared, he said, and decided that a clothing giveaway would be the best way to do that. Rent-2-Own has never sponsored anything like this before, Shipkosky said.

“We think it’s something that will benefit everybody. It’s good for our customers and our employees,” he said.

So far, Shipkosky said, there have been only a few clothing donations. The store is in need of more.

“We all have clothes in our closet that we don’t wear or that we’ve outgrown,” he said with a laugh. “We are looking for clothes that are not ripped or dirty, other than that, we will accept them.”

Those wanting to drop of items can do so between the hours of 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. today, Thursday or Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday.
