Howard, Auble Ladies 9-Hole winners

PINE GROVE — It was business as usual for the Ladies Nine Hole Golf Association of the Ironton Country Club.

The group met at its usual 9 a.m. time on Tuesday for a meeting hosted by Joyce Lewis.

Nancy Livingston began the business session and Pat Riggs announced Irene Howard and Rose Auble as the recent tournament winners.

Displayed in the ladies locker room are invitations to the upcoming Franklin Valley Women’s Invitational to be held Saturday. Registration deadline is Wednesday for the 18-hole tournament using the Calloway system.

The sixth annual Rally for Cure Diamond Links tournament will be Saturday, Oct. 7. Wearing pink and decorating golf carts in pink provides a colorful event for those interested in the 18-hole contest.

Jamie Dyer announced the benefit golf tournament hosts by Union Freewill Baptist Church at the Ironton Country Club will be held on Saturday, Sept. 9. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. with lunch at noon. The shotgun start is at 1 p.m.

Several ladies continued nine hole tournament play on Tuesday. Those who did not play observed the changes being made to the fairways.

Winners for the day were Auble, Riggs and Lewis.

Next week’s hostess is Johnna Jones.

A brief meeting will be at 9 a.m. with golf play continuing at 9:30. New members are invited to attend.
