Ironton, Redmen listed in computer

The first Ohio High School Athletic Association computer ratings had been released and two local teams are among the top 10 in their respective regions.
The Ironton Fighting Tigers (3-1) are listed as sixth in Region 15 of Division IV with 5.7600 points. The Rock Hill Redmen (3-1) are 10th in the same region with 4.6500 points.
This is the first of six releases. The final computer ratings will be released on Sunday, Oct. 29. The top eight teams in each region will qualify for the postseason playoffs.
Bellaire is the leader in Region 15 with 10.3750 points and Williamsport Westfall is second with 8.2250 points.
New Lexington (7.500) is third followed by Columbus Eastmoor Academy (5.9500) and Meigs (5.8870).
Meigs (4-0) plays Fairland Friday.
Martins Ferry (5.4370) trails Ironton in seventh place with Unioto (5.350) eight and St. Clairsville (4.6750) ninth.

Ironton 16h in poll
The Fighting Tigers inched their way up in the weekly Associated Press football poll.
Ironton was tied for 20th place last week with 14 points.
Youngstown Cardinal Mooney continues to lead the poll in Division IV. Defending state champion Coldwater is second, Jonathan Alder third, Bellaire fourth, Oak Harbor fifth, Clinton-Massie sixth, Westfall seventh, Huron eighth, Youngstown Ursuline ninth and Milton-Union 10th.
