Ohio gets by Herd in OT

ATHENS, OH — Sonny Troutman made six free throws in overtime as the Ohio Bobcats beat the Marshall Thundering Herd 84-78 Saturday.
Marshall (2-5) tied the game at 66 on two foul shots by Trais Aikens with four seconds left in regulation.
Bubba Walther converted a 3-point play 15 seconds into overtime to put Ohio up for good and Jerome Tillman made a pair of foul shots at the 3:15 mark to extend the Ohio lead to 71-66.
Aikens layup with 2:15 on the clock got the Herd within 71-68, but Walther hit a 3-pointer and Troutman converted his free throws during the final 52 seconds to clinch the win.
Leon Williams scored 18 points as all five Ohio starters finished in double figures. Tillman had 17 points, Whitney Davis 16, Troutman 15 and Walther 14.
Marshall also had five players in double digits led by Aikens with 19. Darryl Merthie scored 16, Markel Humphrey 12, Tre Whitted 11 and Mark Dorris added 10.
Ohio (3-1) led 39-30 at the half after leading by as much as 35-19 with 3:40 left in the half.
The Herd came back to take a 52-51 lead on a jumper by Aikens with 9:12 left in regulation. The lead changed hands seven times until Aikens tied the game to force the overtime.
