White competes in PPK regional at Bengals stadium
CINCINNATI — The NFL is starting to recruit players at a younger age, but this is going a little overboard.
Trevor White, a sixth grade student at Ironton Middle School, will compete Sunday in the Ohio regional Punt, Pass & Kick competition at the Cincinnati Bengals’ Paul Brown Stadium complex.
White won the 12-13-year-old age division at the local level in Ironton at Tanks Memorial Stadium. He advanced to the sectional competition at Piketon and came away as the champion when he racked up 289.4 total feet in the three areas.
The actual regional competition will begin at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at the Bengals’ practice facility. The competitors will perform an exhibition at halftime of the Bengals-San Diego Chargers game scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
Regional winners will advance and have the opportunity to compete for the national title at the Super Bowl.
The game is scheduled to be televised by WOWK-TV 13.
The Punt, Pass & Kick competition is sponsored by Pepsi.
