SOUTH POINT — Coach Dave Adams was tired of his team getting off to a slow start every game.

Evidently, so were the South Point Lady Pointers.

South Point opened the game with 28 first quarter points and went on to rout the River Valley Lady Raiders 66-28 Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

“We came out and played well. We talked about coming out and starting well early. We’ve started slow a lot this year,” Adams said.

T’Ann Mayo drained three 3-pointers and also converted a 3-point play and Sarah Lee scored 6 points as South Point took a 28-4 first quarter lead.

Mayo had 5 more points including another 3-pointer in the second quarter as the Lady Pointers extended the lead to 47-9.

Adams was pleased with the defensive effort.

“Defensively, we played pretty solid and allowed them only one shot,” Adams said.

Mayo finished with a game-high 21 points. Lee added 11 points as South Point improved to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the OVC.

Courtney Circle and McKenzie Cluxton had 9 points each for River Valley (1-5, 0-2).
