CHESAPEAKE — Opposites don’t attract.

The Chesapeake Panthers played poorly and the River Valley Raiders played well. The end result was a 72-44 Ohio Valley Conference win for the Raiders Friday night.

“We came out and missed some shots and River Valley hit some shots. They ran their offense to perfection and hit the open man at every opportunity. They just really played well,” Panthers coach Ron Reed said.

Chesapeake was ahead 9-8 at the end of the first quarter, but Ryan Eggleton came off the bench in the second quarter and scored 12 points as River Valley outscored the Panthers 27-10 to take a 35-19 halftime lead.

“That’s what broke our backs,” Reed said of Eggleton’s performance.

Ryan Morrow scored all 6 of his points in the third quarter as River Valley opened up a 56-28 cushion.

Eggleton finished with 18 points to lead River Valley (5-2, 2-0). Michael Cordell and Ryan Henry added 10 points each.

Jonathan Greene had 15 points and Kyle Rase 10 to pace the Panthers.

Chesapeake, who has no starters back from last season, fell to 2-4 and 0-2 in the OVC.
