PORTSMOUTH — The Green Bobcats are hoping when they wake up Sunday morning that Friday night was only a dream.

Okay, it was more of a nightmare.

Green had 23 turnovers and scored in single digits each quarter as they lost 43-24 to the Portsmouth Clay Panthers in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

“We just turned the ball over too much. And we didn’t play well as a whole. It didn’t seem real. We just played so bad,” Green coach David Hopper said.

Clay was up 7-3 at the end of the first quarter and 19-7 at the break.

Nathan Patten, Green’s leading scorer, had all 5 of his points in the third quarter but the Panthers pulled away to a 33-16 lead and were never headed.

Matt Stroud had 10 points to lead Clay (5-5, 5-2).

Ian Kelley scored 8 points and Randy Ratcliff grabbed 9 rebounds for Green (5-7, 3-4).
