FRANKLIN FURANCE — Shay Richendollar is “3-mendous.”

Richendollar made five more 3-pointers to help lead the Green Lady Bobcats to a 53-50 win over the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings Thursday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

Richendollar scored 17 points as she drained five more 3-pointers to give her a school-record 50 on the season. The old record was 44 by Megan Tackett.

Green’s leading scorer Elista Hall had just 6 points, but Adrianne Blankenship got 11 points, 14 rebounds and 5 steals while Ashlee Runyon had 10 points and 7 assists.

“When Elista only gets 6 points and we win a tough game, that’s a good sign for us,” Green coach Dale Royse said.

“(Elista) didn’t shoot the ball that much. They did a pretty good job on her, but the other girls really picked it up.”

Green improved to 8-10 overall and 7-6 in the SOC.

“We’ve had three pretty good games back-to-back, so we’re starting to come together,” Royse said.

The loss was crucial to the Lady Vikings who were in the title chase. They are now 11-6 overall and 8-5 in the SOC.

“We got off to a slow start offensively,” Lady Vikings coach Lisa Bryant said as her team was just 6 of 25 from the field in the first half.

“Our defense really did a good job tonight, especially on Hall, but Richendollar chipped in five 3s on the night and that hurt us.”

Emily Bowling had a game-high 23 points to lead the Lady Vikings. She also had 8 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assists.

Kayla Saunders turned in a big game with 14 points and 4 rebounds and Haily Pelletier had 9 rebounds. Tiffany Bryant had 9 rebounds but was limited to 7 points against Green’s double team.

“Emily Bowling and Kayla Saunders both stepped up offensively tonight. These two are starting to step up their game with each and every outing,” coach Bryant said.

Green led 9-7 after the first quarter and then Richendollar hit a pair of 3-pointers in the second quarter as Green took a 23-18 halftime lead.

Each team scored 11 points in the third quarter to make it 34-29.

Saunders had 11 of her points in the fourth quarter and Bowling scored 8, but the Lady Bobcats used a balanced offense to hold on for the win.
