PEDRO — It took three to get 23.

The trio of Missy Wheeler, Sarah Lee and T’Ann Mayo combined for 23 points in the fourth quarter as the South Point Lady Pointers survived the Rock Hill Redwomen 56-42 Saturday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

“Their big three stepped it up in the fourth quarter when they needed it,” said Rock Hill coach Matt Fulks.

“We handled the press pretty well in the first half. We were right there. I can’t fault the effort. We played with pretty good intensity. They’re just a good team. Hopefully this will get us going.”

Rock Hill led 10-9 after the first quarter as Brooke Long scored 8 points. The lead stayed at 19-18 at the break.

Long had 6 more points in the third quarter but South Point managed to rally for a 33-32 lead.

Anna Bridges scored 6 points for Rock Hill in the fourth quarter, but Wheeler scored 9 points, Lee 8 and Mayo 6 as South Point pulled away.

The Lady Pointers were 10 of 14 from the foul line in the fourth quarter.

Mayo had 16 points, Lee 15 and Wheeler 13 as South Point (13-6, 7-2) remained one game behind Coal Grove in the OVC race.

Long had a game-high 19 and Bobbi Harper 10 for Rock Hill (7-10, 4-4).
