ATHENS — The Green Lady Bobcats had a shot at winning the Division IV sectional tournament.

Then came the shots.

Green made just 16 of 56 shots from the field and only 2 of 17 from 3-point range as they lost 56-44 to the South Gallia Lady Rebels Thursday.

“We didn’t play as well as we can play,” Green coach Dale Royse said. “As a team we didn’t shoot the ball well, but those things happen and there’s not much you can do about it.”

South Gallia was up 15-10 at the end of the first quarter and 26-20 at the hald.

Green got within 38-34 at the end of the third quarter and actually took a 41-40 lead early in the fourth quarter.

But the shots still wouldn’t fall as South Gallia began to pull away.

Adrianne Blankenship had 16 points and 7 rebounds to lead Green that finished the season 8-13. Shay Richendollar had 9 points and Elista Hall led with 8 rebounds.

South Gallia had five players in double figures. Niki Fulks and Chelsea Stowers scored 13 points each while Jennifer Sheridan, Chelsea Canaday and Laci Lester had 10 each.
