FRANKLIN FURANCE — After turning on the heat, the Green Lady Bobcats changed the thermostat, too.

Green used its press to get the lead early, then after losing the lead, made some changes to regain the lead and come away with a 48-37 Southern Ohio Conference win over the East Lady Tartans Monday.

“Our pressure effected them early on, and after they tied it in the third quarter we changed our defense and they had trouble adjusting to that,” Green coach Dale Royse said.

Green’s defense produced 20 steals including 13 by Adrianne Blankenship. The freshman also had 14 rebounds and missed a triple-double by scoring 8 points.

“She just played a heck of a game,” Royse said.

Elista Hall led Green (7-6, 6-4 SOC) with a game-high 19 points. Heidi Tackett had 9 points and 11 rebounds while Ashlee Runyon added 9 points and 4 steals.

Blankenship scored all 8 of her points in the first half as Green took a 27-22 lead at the half.

East tied the game in the third quarter, but Green outscored the Lady Tartans 21-15 in the second half despite shooting only 13 of 32 from the foul line for the game.

Green hosts first-place New Boston Thursday at 6 p.m.
