Lady Dragons stun Pointers, 61-60

SOUTH POINT — They did it again.

For the second straight season, the Fairland Lady Dragons upset the South Point Lady Pointers with a 61-60 win Monday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Last season, Fairland won to force the OVC into a tie for the league title. The Lady Dragons win Monday knocked the Lady Pointers out of first place behind Coal Grove.

Molly Bumgardner scored 18 points to lead three Lady Dragons in double figures. Shea Berry scored 16 and Megan Auxier 10.

South Point also had three players in double figures as Sarah Lee scored 15 points, Missy Wheeler had 14 and Ericka Leighty 12.

The Lady Pointers (10-6, 6-2) jumped out to a 20-11 lead at the end of the first quarter only to have Fairland close to within 30-26 at the half.

Fairland (7-8, 3-5) outscored South Point 18-15 in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 45-44 before winning completing the comeback win in the fourth quarter.
