New Boston rallies late to beat Bobcats

NEW BOSTON — And you thought the temperatures were dropping outside.

The Green Bobcats suffered through some frigid shooting in the fourth quarter as they fell 64-61 to the New Boston Tigers Tuesday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

Green was only 2 of 11 from the field in the fourth quarter.

“We just went cold and we had some crucial turnovers. But we played hard. New Boston is a tough place to play,” coach Dave Hopper said.

Ian Kelley scored 9 points in the first quarter as Green took a 16-14 lead.

Mike Salisbury got 10 points in the second quarter to offset 9 by Nathan Patten as New Boston closed to within 38-36 at the break.

Patten erupted for 15 points in the third quarter but New Boston shaved a point off the lead and trailed 55-54.

Then came the cold-shooting final quarter as New Boston rallied to win.

Patten finished with 24 points including four 3-pointers to lead all scorers. Kelley scored 13.

Randy Ratcliff grabbed 12 rebounds while Brock Russell had 5 rebounds, 5 steals and 2 steals.

New Boston (3-313, 2-9) was led by Salisbury with 21 points. Josh Holbrook added 12.
