ROSE HILL, Ky. — Things just aren’t the same for the Symmes Valley Vikings. That’s why they’re trying to do things differently.

Playing their second game without leading scorer Michael Humphrey due to a broken jaw, the Vikings continued their series of adjustments in a 67-50 loss to the Rose Hill Royals Monday.

“We didn’t play that poorly, we just didn’t make enough shots,” Vikings coach Alvin Carpenter said. “We’re adjusting. Everyone is in a different role now so we had to learn what we can do and what we can’t do.”

The Vikings were down just 15-12 at the end of the first quarter, but Michael Fuller hit three shots from behind the arc in the second quarter as Rose Hill pulled away to a 36-23 halftime lead.

Dakota Euton knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and scored 8 points as the Royals pushed the lead to 57-33.

Matt Tibbs and brother Chris Tibbs combined for 9 points and Chris Capper had 6 points as the Vikings outscored the Royals 17-10, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the 24-point deficit.

Kyle Meadows and Kirt Shipley had 10 points each to lead the Vikings (13-4). Meadows and Chris Capper grabbed 8 rebounds each and Chris Tibbs had 7.

Euton scored 21 points, Chad Jackson 18 and Fuller 13 to lead the Royals (15-5).
