CROWN CITY — If the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings plan on winning, they just need to get board.

As in rebounds.

The Lady Vikings had a strong rebounding effort as they beat the South Gallia Lady Rebels 63-56 Thursday.

Tiffany Bryant scored 25 points and had 10 rebounds while Emily Bowling racked up a solid all-around game with 22 points, 7 steals and 4 assists to lead the Lady Vikings (6-5).

The Lady Vikings pulled down 40 rebounds as a team as Natasha Pointer cleaned the glass for 13 and Haily Pelletier grabbed 11.

“We did a better job of hitting the boards and boxing out,” Lady Vikings coach Lisa Bryant said. “Pointer and Pelletier both worked hard on the boards and Tiffany Bryant and Emily Bowling had big games for us. “

Niki Fulks scored 23 points and Chelsea Canaday added 10 for the Lady Rebels (7-4).

Bowling scored 11 points in the first quarter as Symmes Valley took a 17-14 lead. She got 10 more points in the second quarter as the lead went to 37-29 at the break.

South Gallia rallied in the third quarter to get within 45-40. Tiffany Bryant had 6 of the Lady Vikings 8 points.

Bryant then scored 13 points in the fourth quarter including 7 of 8 at the line to help secure the win.

Symmes Valley will host Portsmouth Notre Dame on Monday. The game originally was scheduled to be at Notre Dame but was moved due to a scheduling conflict.
