WESTWOOD, Ky. — When the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings play basketball, they can’t help but go Bowling.

Emily Bowling hit four clutch foul shots over the final 30 seconds to give the Lady Vikings a 45-42 win over the Faiview Lady Eagles Saturday.

Symmes Valley lost center Tiffany Bryant to fouls with 4:43 to play and Fairview mounting a comeback. But Bowling was 4 of 4 from the line including two shots with 12 seconds left that put the Vikings up 45-42.

Kayla Saunders was instrumental as well as she converted 3 of 4 at the foul line in the fourth quarter and scored 5 points.

“This was a very physical game, especially in the second half,” Lady Vikings coach Lisa Bryant said. “Emily Bowling has really picked it up in the last five games.”

Bowling scored 12 points and Bryant 5 in the first quarter as Symmes Valley jumped out to a 20-8 lead.

The lead was 28-15 at the break, but the Vikings turned the ball over eight times in the second half that helped Fairview start back on its comeback.

“Fairview took advantage of our turnovers and our lack of taking care of the boards,” coach Bryant said. “I have to hand it to my kids. The held their own in the fourth quarter and came up big at the free throw line.

“With Bryant fouled out, (Sarah) Ashworth and (Libby) Ash came in off the bench and did a good job for us.”

Bowling finished with 21 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals. Bryant had 11 points, 5 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.

Logan Reliford scored 12 points and Holli Adkins 11 for Fairview.
