FRANKLIN FURNACE — Like the Academy Awards, Rock Hill coach Matt Fulks had a long list of people to thank.

In this case, the list consisted of his players.

Rock Hill gave a solid team effort Saturday as the Redwomen beat the Green Lady Bobcats 55-40 in a non-league game.

“We got a real good effort and looked for the open space,” said Fulks. “It was just a good team win. Every girl who played gave us a good effort.”

At the top of the list was Brooke Long who scored 25 points including 18 in the second half as Rock Hill wiped out a 5-point deficit.

Bobbi Harper added 10 points and Anna Bridges scored 9 for the Redwomen (6-7).

“We got a real good effort out of Brooke Long. Anna helped us get lead back in the third quarter and Bobbi was finding people open,” said Fulks.

(Kayla) Skaggs did a good job on the boards. Elisha Daniels did a nice job in her first start and Sara Hartwig hit a big 3 in the second quarter that stopped the bleeding and gave us a manageable deficit. All of them stepped up.”

Elista Hall led Green (6-6) with 23 points. Shay Richendollar grabbed 6 rebounds.

“We played really well for one quarter, but in the second half we just didn’t get it done,” Green coach Dale Royse said. “We got devastated on the offensive boards in the second half. We need to get some consistency.”

Hall got 16 of her points in the first half as Green took a 26-21 halftime lead.

But Long scored 8 points and Bridges 5 in the third quarter as Rock Hill stormed back to take a 38-32 lead.

Long had 10 more points in the fourth quarter as Rock Hill continued to open up its lead.

“Long and Harper handled the pressure they put on us and we rebounded better than we have,” said Fulks.
