WINFIELD, W.Va. — Got any One-A-Day vitamins with iron?

The Fairland Dragons must have been feeling tired and run down as they shot just 24 percent from the field in a 52-36 loss Saturday to the Winfield Generals.

Playing their third game in four days including back-to-back games, the Dragons lost their fifth game against nine wins.

“We got the ball where we wanted it, but we couldn’t get the shots to drop,” Fairland coach Chad Belville said. “Part of that is being tired.”

Michael Lamb scored 14 points on 6 of 10 shooting in the first half as Fairland took a 20-19 halftime lead.

But the Dragons were just 2 of 15 from the field in the third quarter and 4 of 22 in the fourth quarter.

Caleb Ashley scored 13 points including three trifectas in the third quarter as Winfield outscored Fairland 17-4 to take a 36-24 lead.

“Ashley got really hot and extended the lead and that killed us,” Belville said. “It was just that one spurt in the third quarter that got us.”

Lamb led the Dragons (9-5) with 17 points. Dustin Bumgardner had 10 rebounds.

Ashley had 16 points for Winfield (11-4).
