COAL GROVE — Under sunny skies the fourth race of the still young 2007 season was able to get underway. Another very large crowd gathered in the stands to watch the 63 race cars compete.
In the Late Model A-Main, polesitter Greg Oliver took the lead at the start as Josh McGuire followed closely behind him in second. The car on the move early on was Jackie Boggs as he moved all the way from seventh to third in the first eight laps.
On lap nine, McGuire finally got a run on the inside of Oliver as they battled side by side for the lead. McGuire cleared Oliver to now take the lead on lap 10.
As a caution flag flew a tough break occurred as second place runner Oliver pulled off the track and was done for the night. That handed the second position now to Boggs.
For the remainder of the race, Boggs ran about two car lengths from McGuire but wouldn’t have enough as McGuire came across the checkers to win his first race of the season.
Boggs finished second with Josh Bocook third, Shawn Holliday fourth, and D. Jay Miller fifth. Greg Oliver won the dash race while Boggs and Jason Tolliver won Carl Grover Motorsports heat races. Rick Christian won the B-Main.
In the Modified A-Main, Eddie Harmon took the lead at the start as Todd Robinson moved into the second position behind him. While Harmon and Robinson pulled away up front, the racing through the field was great as the field battled two and three wide.
Nobody would have anything for Harmon though as he led all twenty laps to win his second feature event in a row.
Robinson finished second with Jason Perry third, Greg Thompson fourth, and Rick Walker fifth. Harmon won the dash race while Thompson and Dave “Fireball” Pinkerton won Carl Grover Motorsports heat races.
In the Bomber A-Main, Robbie Lewis took the lead at the start with Jeremie Bretz running second.
For the races first five laps Bretz ran right behind Lewis trying to make a pass as Brett Carey and John Keaton battled side by side for third.
On lap seven, Bretz finally made the pass on Lewis coming off the turn and went on to win his third feature of the season. Lewis finished second with Carey third, Jason Rayburn fourth, and Wayne Hughes fifth. Bretz and Lewis won Carl Grover Motorsports heat races.
