Ironton#8217;s participation Limited at SEO meet

CHLLICOTHE — It was the Southeastern Ohio Athletic League track meet’s limited edition.
Due to a scheduling conflict with the prom on Saturday night, most of the junior and senior members of the Ironton Fighting Tigers track team was not available for the league meet.
The effects were shown in the team scores. The Ironton boys were sixth with 24 points — 14 from John Pemberton — and the girls were ninth in the 10-team field with a mere 10 points.
Pemberton was second in the shot put and third in the discus. His shot put heave of 54-11 set a new school record. He threw 148-2 in the discus.
Lukas Morris was eighth in the long jump as he leaped 18-4.5 in the finals. Ryan Sias cleared 5-8 and took eighth place in the high jump.
Lamar Dufore ran an 11.6 to finish fifth in the 100-meter dash. Major Brice, Joss Ross, Dufore and Sias teamed up to take sixth place in the 4×100 meter relay with a 47.5 time.
Justin Payne was eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:13.90.
For the girls, Cinnamon Fletcher was sixth in the 100 meter hurdles with a 16.9 clocking.
Lorna Ceasar threw the shot put 31-0.5 and took fifth place.
The Division II district track meet will be held Wednesday and Saturday at Oak Hill.
Ironton, Rock Hill, South Point and Fairland will participate in Div. II meet.
Due to work on the Rock Hill track, the Division III meet has been moved to Oak Hill, too. The meet will be Tuesday and Friday.
Local teams in the meet are Coal Grove, Chesapeake, and Green.
