Lady Vikings roll past Eastern, 19-3

BEAVER — A rolling stone gathers no moss. A softball team on a roll gathers no loss.

The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings continued their winning streak with a 19-3 route of the Eastern Lady Eagles Tuesday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

Emily Bowling was 4-4 with a home run and six runs batted in to lead the offensive onslaught.

“It was nice to get a win and keep our momentum going,” said Lady Vikings coach Jeff “Odie” Estep. “We’re getting better.”

The game was was resumed in the second inning after being suspended after 1.1 innings on April 11.

Symmes Valley scored five runs in the first inning. Bowling had a two-run double and Kayla Justice had a bases-loaded double to account for all the runs.

Bowling had a two-run triple and a two-run double while Natasha Pointer a two-run single in a 12-run second inning and it was 17-0.

In the fifth inning, Bowling led off with a home run and Kathryn Myers followed an out later with a solo shot.

Libby Ash got the win as she struck out six and did not walk a batter as she allowed four hits.

Symmes Valley (8-8, 7-3) visits Portsmouth Clay Wednesday in a league.
