PEDRO— Doing your job doesn’t always mean a good payday.
Rock Hill pitchers Carl Blankenship and Zach Zornes threw well but it wasn’t enough as the Rock Hill Redmen lost 2-0 to the Greenup County (Ky.) Musketeers Tuesday.
“(Carl) threw a heck of a ball game. So did Zornes. They made them put the ball in play and we made the plays,” said Redmen coach Barry Litteral.
Greenup (10-5) broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning.
Austin Wright reached second base on a dropped fly ball, moved to third base on a ground out and scored on a hit by Aaron Rowe.
The Musketeers got an insurance run in the fifth inning when Juan Staten doubled and Eric Craft singled.
Rock Hill threatened in the second inning when Seth Kuehne singled and Josh Guy walked but were left stranded.
Guy also doubled to lead off the fifth only to be left stranded.
“We couldn’t come up with a timely hit,” said Litteral.
Rock Hill (2-3) visits Chesapeake Wednesday.
