Redwomen beat Chesy for road win
CHESAPEAKE — Even on the road, life is good.
The Rock Hill Redwomen have been able to win at home and on the road including a 5-1 win over the Chesapeake Lady Panthers Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
“We played well and they played well. But we played good defense, got some key hits and it was a good road win,” coach Mary Harper said.
Rock Hill took a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
Jazel DeAutremont singled, went to second on an error. She took third base on a wild pitch and Bobbi Harper had an RBI single.
The lead went to 2-0 in the fourth when Candice Chaffins was hit by a pitch and Kim Moore tripled her home.
Chesapeake cut the deficit to 2-1 in the fifth on a walk to Hannah Henderson and singles by Casey Kirk and Nikki Lindsey.
But the Redwomen pushed across three insurance runs in the seventh.
Katrina Settle and DeAutremont singled and both scored on a hit by Bobbi Harper. Shelli Harper followed with a run-scoring single.
Bobbi Harper got the win with a four-hitter. She struck out six and walked two.
Allison Chapman took the loss. She fanned 11 and walked just one.
Rock Hill, 8-0 and 5-0 in the OVC, hosts Minford in a doubleheader Saturday. Chesapeake (6-4, 1-2) visits Ashland, Ky., Friday in a doubleheader.
