PEDRO — If it’s not broke, don’t fix it.
The Rock Hill Redwomen have used pitching, defense and timely hitting all season as the formula to their success and it’s worked.
It worked for the 17th time Thursday as the Redwomen blanked the Chesapeake Lady Panthers 4-0 in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
“It’s been the same formula all season and we’ve stayed focused. That’s been the big thing,” said Redwomen coach Mary Harper.
Rock Hill is 17-0 overall and finishes 10-0 in the OVC.
Bobbi Harper got the win with a three-hitter. She struck out seven and did not walk a batter.
Kati McCallister pitched well in the loss. She struck out six and did not issue a free pass.
Rock Hill got all the runs it need in the first inning.
Jazel DeAutremont doubled, moved to third base on a wild pitch and scored on a hit by Shelli Harper. Candice Chaffins was hit by pitch and Brooke Skinner had a run-scoring single.
The next two runs scored in the fourth inning.
Kim Moore tripled to start the rally and came home with Katrina Settle doubled. DeAutremont followed with an RBI double.
Moore went 3-3 to lead the 10-hit attack. Shelli Harper was 2-3 and DeAutremont 2-4.
Rock Hill travels to Gallipolis on Wednesday.
