GALLIPOLIS — No matter how long the Rock Hill Redwomen sit around, they don’t forget the main things: pitching and defense.
The unbeaten Redwomen used those two aspects of the game to beat the Gallipolis Blue Angels 3-1 Wednesday.
“We haven’t played since Thursday, but we played good defense and got good itching,” said Redwomen coach Mary Harper.
“We hit the ball well, but right at people.”
Bobbi Harper got the win as she struck out seven, didn’t walk a batter and allowed only four hits.
Rock Hill broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the fourth inning.
Shelli Harper and Candice Chaffins got base hits and came around to score on three wild pitches.
Gallipolis scored a run in the fifth when Ashley Chapman singled, Sarah Cochran reached on an error and Leslie Niday grounded out.
The Redwomen added an insurance run in the seventh.
Brooke Skinner and Brooke Long each reached on errors, Kayla Kelley was walked intentionally and Kim Moore hit a sacrifice fly.
Rock Hill (18-0) host Raceland, Ky., Thursday.
