Redwomen utilize hard-hitting to win

PEDRO — Doing things hard make things easy for the Rock Hill Redwomen.
The Redwomen used some hard-hitting to remain unbeaten in 15 games as they blanked the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers 8-0 Tuesday.
“We played good team ball and we hit the ball hard tonight,” said Redwomen coach Mary Harper.
Rock Hill got a run in the first inning when Bobbi Harper doubled and scored on a hit by Shelli Harper.
The lead was 2-0 when Brooke Long walked, Kayla Kelley reached on an error and Katrina Settle had an RBI single.
Two runs scored in the third inning.
Bobbi Harper got her second double, Candice Chaffin singled and Brooke Skinner had a two-run double.
The lead went to 6-0 in the fourth inning.
Settle singled, stole second, and took third on a wild pitch. Jazel DeAutremont walked and kept running to second base and Settle scored on the throw to second base.
Bobbi Harper then singled and Chaffin doubled in the run.
The final two runs scored in the sixth inning.
Settle opened the inning with a walk and DeAutremont got a bunt single. Settle stole third base and scored on a wild pitch.
Chaffin hit a sacrifice fly to drive in the final run.
Bobbi Harper picked up the win as she allowed just three hits, struck out 10 and walked three. She also went 3-4 at the plate.
Settle and Chaffins each went 2-3.
Emily Lilly was 2-3 for Ironton.
Rock Hill hosts Coal Grove Wednesday and Chesapeake Thursday in league games.
Ironton hosts Chillicothe Wednesday.
