Symmes Valley wins 3rd straight

SCIOTOVILLE — Now that they’ve got started, when will they stop?

The Symmes Valley Vikings continued their winning ways as they rolled past the East Tartans Wednesday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

“We’ll take a win. Hopefully, we’ll keep this streak rolling for a while,” Vikings coach John Patterson said of his team’s 3-game winning streak.

The Vikings went up 3-0 in the first inning.

Robbie Powell was safe on an error, moved up on a sacrifice by Ethan Wilson and Jeremy Hatfield had an RBI single.

Cody Bland and Kyle Meadows scored on a throwing error.

The lead went to 4-0 in the second when Chris Tibbs singled and came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Powell.

After East got a run in the third, the Vikings blew the game open with five runs in the fifth.

Gaga Patterson and Tibbs singled and J.J. Huff reached on an error as two runs scored. Powell’s fly ball was missed scoring Huff.

Powell reached third base and scored on a sacrifice fly by Brice Sexton. Bland then doubled, moved up on a passed ball and scored when Meadows reach on an error.

Symmes Valley created the mercy rule with four runs in the sixth.

Symmes Valley (6-8, 5-4) visits New Boston Friday.
