MAUMEE — The Fairland Senior League All-Stars like to push it to the limit.

Fairland had manager Al Begil at his limit, but he was more than happy to get pushed so hard as the all-stars won two games Tuesday in the seventh inning in a bid for the senior league state championship.

“It’s been baseball all day. We had two long, hard games. I’m stressed out to the max,” said Begil.

Maumee scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning of the first game to take a 9-8 lead. But Fairland scored twice in the bottom of the inning to win 10-9.

Nate Burcham walked to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning, Tyler Godby followed with a base hit, and Clinton Baise reached on an error to load the bases.

After two strikeouts, Robbie Easterling was hit by a pitch to drive in the tying run and Cole Hatfield walked to force home the winning run.

Cole Hatfield got the win in relief. Jake Seagraves had a 3-run homer, Tyler Thackston doubled and Godby went 2-4.

The second game was somewhat of a replay.

Fairland got a run in the sixth inning to tie the game, then scored a run in the bottom of the inning to win 5-4.

Baise started the seventh inning rally with a base hit and promptly stole second.

An out later, Thackston hit into a fielder’s choice to send Baise to third base. A wild pitch scored Baise and end the game.

Godby got at win in relief.

Easterling was 2-2 and Jake Seagraves 2-3 to lead Fairland.

Fairland will now play Indian Valley at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Fairland needs two wins against Indian Valley to claim the state championship.
