WEST PORTSMOUTH — The summer is over. It was time to get back to work.
The St. Joseph Flyers soccer team got back to work like it was bucking for a promotion as they rolled past the Portsmouth West Senators 6-2 Tuesday in the season opener.
“The team has worked hard this summer practicing and it has paid off,” said Flyers coach Dan Blair. “It was a team effort.”
Payton Blair scored three goals to lead the Flyers offense. Chad Harvey had two goals and Joey Basedow one.
Levi Hopkins, Harvey and Blair all had assists. Goalie David Crossen racked up nine saves.
The Flyers hosts Boyd County, Ky., at 6 p.m. Thursday.
