BUFFALO, W.Va. — Not even the Pillsbury Doughboy could withstand this many turnovers.

The Green Bobcats lost four of six fumbles and were intercepted three times in a 47-8 season-opening loss to the Buffalo Bisons Friday night.

The loss spoiled the debut of Dan Mercer as the Bobcats head coach.

Buffalo bolted to 22-0 first quarter lead thanks to Green’s turnovers.

After a fumble recovery, Nick Harris ran 10 yards for the touchdown and also added the conversion for an 8-0 lead.

Thomas Davis had 3-yard scoring run to make it 14-0 and Harris found Corey Good on a 35-yard touchdown pass play and it was 20-0. Harris threw to Schuyler Frazier for the extra points.

Frazier returned a Green fumble 15 yards for the next touchdown, and Good returned a punt 80 yards for a score and it was 34-0 at the half.

Harris, who was 7 of 11 for 173 yards, threw touchdown passes of 64 yards to Good and 8 to Davis in the third quarter to open up a 47-0 lead.

Green avoided a shutout when Matt Clark scored on a 7-yard keeper. Clark threw to James McGuire for the conversion.

The Bobcats host Northwest next Friday.
