Jury selection is expected to begin Monday in
Lawrence County Common Pleas Court in the trial of Isaiah Sudderth.
The 25-year-old Columbus man is charged with murder in the death of Damon Pringle, 31, of Ironton.
Pringle was shot to death June 18 at the South 10th Street home of Kimberly Sammons. Sudderth is also charged with driving while intoxicated.
Authorities said Sudderth shot Pringle four times in the chest and back after an argument. He left the scene and was apprehended a short time later near the Scioto-Lawrence County line.
Sudderth and his attorney, Roger Smith, will argue the shooting was in self defense because Pringle had come to Sammons’ home when Sudderth was staying and assaulted him.
The trial was scheduled for the week of Sept. 4 but was postponed when Roger Smith became ill and was hospitalized.
Sudderth remains in jail under a $500,000 bond.
Both Roger Smith and Assistant Lawrence County Prosecutor Jeff Smith said they expect the trial to continue into the latter part of tis week.
