FRANKLIN FURNACE — A Franklin Furnace man is dead after a two-vehicle crash Thursday evening near the Lawrence-Scioto line.

Thomas R. Newsome, 66, was eastbound on Haverhill-Ohio Furnace Road and was attempting to cross U.S. 52 when he was struck in the right front by a car driven by Victoria Ellis, 56, of Pedro.

Ellis was northbound on U.S. 52. Neither she nor a passenger in her vehicle were injured.

The accident remains under investigation.
