The Hot Spot Tanning Salon is now a bit of a sister act.

Owner Heather Montroso opened The Hot Spot Caf/ opened earlier this week next door to her tanning salon at 1928 S. Third St.

“I have always wanted to open a caf/ or coffee shop. It took about a year to get everything together,” owner Heather Montroso said. “But Ironton needed it.”

The cafe specializes in paninis, salads and personal gourmet pizzas.

The hungry will also find daily soup specials.

“We’re going to try to have combo specials in the future,” she said.

It also offers Cheesecake Factory cheesecake, a variety of other desserts, cappuccinos, lattes and a selection of other specialty drinks.

The caf/ is open 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Saturday.

Montroso caters not only to the lunch crowd, but to the breakfast crowd as well. Patrons can pick up not only the morning cup of coffee, but a pastry, muffin or croissant to go along with it.
