Seven was a lucky number for area football players.

That’s how many local players were named to the Associated Press All-Ohio team for divisions V and VI announced Wednesday.

In Division V, the Coal Grove Hornets landed Dustin Harmon, a 6-foot-2, 260-pound senior, on the honorable mention list along with teammates Tyler Allen and Frank Delawder.

Harmon was a two-way lineman and considered among the best defensive lineman in the Ohio Valley Conference. He was first team on the Southeast Ohio All-District team.

Allen, a 6-3, 260-pound senior, and Delawder, a 6-1, 180-pound sophomore, were also first team all-district.

Allen was a strong blocker for the ground-oriented Hornets who won a share of the Ohio Valley Conference title. Delawder ran for 1,000 yards in nine games and led the team in scoring.

Chesapeake landed 6-foot, 260-pound senior lineman Brad Wiley and 5-11, 175-pound junior defensive back Aaron Donahoe on the All-Ohio honorable mention list.

Wiley, a three-year starter, was the Panthers top lineman and played both ways. Donahoe doubled at quarterbacks and led the team with 556 yards rushing and eight touchdowns while passing for 818 yards and 11 more scores.

Chris Capper, a 6-2, 185-pound senior, and teammate Cody Bland, a 6-2, 220-pound junior, were named All-Ohio honorable mention in Division VI.

Capper was first team all-district as a defense back as he recorded 101 tackles plus three sacks.

He also played quarterback and ran 123 times for 741 yards and nine touchdowns.
