Station 300 at Chesapeake was on standby to provide area coverage but was not called to the scene.

Firefighters fought the blaze through the early morning hours until around 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

The fire marshal was on the scene Sunday investigating the cause and is expected to return today.

As of press time, no explanation has been given for the cause of the blaze.

The two families, whose identities were unknown, sought assistance from the local Red Cross and are currently staying in an area hotel.
