SOUTH POINT — Taking care of the ball enabled the South Point Lady Pointers to take care of business.

The Lady Pointers had just 10 turnovers in their fast-paced style as they rolled past the Wellston Lady Golden Rockets 77-42 Monday.

“I thought we took care of the ball. Ten turnovers at our pace is pretty good,” said Lady Pointers coach Dave Adams.

“Defensively we played pretty well. We played with pretty good intensity in the half-court set.”

Kayla Fletcher scored 11 points and Jalynn Bradburn five — they each hit a 3-pointer — as South Point took a 22-11 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Erin Sturgill had seven points for the Lady Rockets.

Bradburn had eight more points in the second quarter as South Point extended its lead to 41-22 at the half.

T’Ann Mayo drilled a pair of 3-pointers as she scored eight points in the third quarter and Ericka Leighty added six more points as the Lady Pointers pulled away to a 63-33 lead.

Adams emptied his bench in the fourth quarter.

“We’ve still got a long way to go, but every game there’s something good coming out of it,” he said.

Fletcher led the Lady Pointers with 21 points and 11 steals. Bradburn had 15 points, Mayo had 14 points and four assists, Leighty added 13 points and Tinesha Taylor pulled down 10 rebounds.

Sturgill topped Wellston (2-6) with 17 points.

South Point travels to Rock Hill Thursday for an Ohio Valley Conference game.
