GALLIPOLIS — Miss a little and you can miss a lot.

Missed opportunities caused the Rock Hill Redwomen to miss out on a possible win as they fell 59-49 Monday to the Gallipolis Blue Angels.

“We just didn’t take advantage of some opportunities. We didn’t shoot well at the foul line,” said Redwomen coach Matt Fulks.

“We played in spurts. We got down to the end and a few loose balls didn’t go our way.”

Rock Hill (2-4) shot 33 percent and Gallipolis 30 percent, but the Blue Angels attempted 71 shots. Gallipolis also held a 58-35 rebound advantage including 25 offensive boards.

The Redwomen took a 12-11 lead at the end of the first, but managed just seven points in the second quarter — Samantha Harris hit a trey — and fell behind 25-19 at the half.

Brooke Long scored 12 points in the third quarter including three bombs from behind the 3-point arc, but Alexis Geiger and Ryann Leslie had 6 points each as Gallipolis maintained its lead at 41-35.

The Blue Angels converted 8-of-12 from the line in the fourth quarter to end any Rock Hill comeback hopes.

Long led all scorers with 21 points, three assists and three steals. Elisha Daniels had nine rebounds and Ashlee Thacker pulled down five.

Geiger and Leslie scored 18 each for Gallipolis (2-4).
