Woman charged with felonious assault

An Ironton man was hospitalized Tuesday following an early morning assault and the woman he lived with is in jail in connection with the incident.
Tammy Howell, 35, of 218-1/2 South Fourth St., Ironton, was charged with felonious assault and taken to the Lawrence County Jail.
Carl Palmer, described as a man in his 60s, of the same address, was first taken to Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky., and then taken by helicopter to Cabell-Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va., Ironton Police Capt. Joe Ross said.
Cabell-Huntington Hospital spokeswoman Kathy Cosco said Palmer is listed in
critical condition.
“It’s kind of a domestic thing,” Ross said.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification is aiding police in their probe into the assault.
The incident happened just after 3 a.m. today.
