It was the biggest powder cocaine bust ever executed by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office and the Lawrence County Drug and Major Crimes Task Force.

Sheriff Tim Sexton said two people were arrested and more than 1,100 grams of powder cocaine were seized Tuesday night in a drug raid at an Ironton residence.

Charles McCall, 35, and Suzanne McCall, 25, both of 818 S. Eighth St., were each charged with multiple drug charges and taken to the Lawrence County Jail. A 5-year-old child at the residence at the time of the arrests was handed over to relatives.

“This is a very significant amount of cocaine removed from the streets of Ironton and Lawrence County,” Sexton said. “The personnel of the drug task force are to be commended for the effort put forth each and every day as we continually fight the drug problem that faces every community, large and small, across the nation.”

In addition to the cocaine, authorities also confiscated a pound of marijuana, two guns, including an assault weapon and $800 cash.

The raid was a joint effort by Ironton police and the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office as well as the sheriff’s office and the drug task force.
