Singing on stage with Bobby Bare was a dream come true

On Sept. 3, during a Labor Day celebration in Catlettsburg, Ky., two country music legends — Bobby Bare and George Jones — performed in concert. My brother, Stanley Stamper, and I were invited by Nashville songwriters and recording artist Bobby Bare to sing as his backup vocals for his portion of the event.

Stanley and I grew up in Pedro next door to Bobby Bare. I keep very close contact with Bobby and the family and visit his home Hendersonville, Tenn. I had mentioned to Bobby that it was Stanley’s dream to sing on stage with him.

We were so pleased to accept the invitation, it sure was a dream that came true, to be able to sing on the same stage with two great country legends.

Stanley and I sing for a lot of different occasions. Just recently, Stanley Stark joined the duo that calls themselves The 2 Of Us + 1. They have sung recently with Wally Christian, recently performed in Indianapolis and also performed in churches, meetings, homecomings, class reunions and senior citizens.
