There are several facets to playing a good ball game. The Green Bobcats did them all.

Green had its best all-around game Saturday as the Bobcats beat the St. Joseph Flyers 66-57.

Green shot 23-of-49 from the field — 47 percent — and 18-of-30 from the foul line. The Bobcats had just 11 turnovers, nine coming in the first half.

“That was a good win. We played pretty well. There were a couple of stretches when St. Joe made some runs, but the kids stayed strong and took care of the basketball,” said Green coach David Hopper.

Chad Harvey scored seven points in the first quarter as St. Joseph took a 15-13 lead.

But Josh Tyler and Matt Clarke had seven points each in the second quarter as Green (5-7) stormed back to take a 33-26 halftime lead.

The Flyers came back in the third quarter to get within 39-36.

“We got in foul trouble in the second quarter and had to sit Chad and Caleb (Blackburn) down, but we did a better job limiting their stops. We kind of ran out of gas in the fourth quarter. We had to play back-to-back and we’re not very deep,” Sheridan.

Harvey scored 10 more points and Blackburn had seven for the Flyers in the fourth quarter, but Clark got six points and Austin Pollard dropped in 13 points including 9-of-12 from the foul line when St. Joseph was forced to foul.

Clarke finished with 17 points while Pollard and Tyler scored 15 each. Tyler also had 10 rebounds while Randy Ratcliff added 12 points and six rebounds.

Harvey led all scorers with 23 points, Blackburn scored 11 points and David Crossan added 10 for the Flyers (5-7).
