PEDRO — The South Point Lady Pointers know how to move.

The Lady Pointers moved their way past the Rock Hill Redwomen 63-39 Saturday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

“We moved the ball really well and got out and ran with the ball really well. Defensively we did a good job,” said South Point coach Dave Adams.

“They came out and played hard, but then the last couple of minutes of the first quarter and the second quarter we stepped up the pressure.”

South Point is now 8-5 on the season and ties Chesapeake and Coal Grove for first place in the OVC at 5-1.

The Lady Pointers had four players in double figures as Ericka Leighty and Jalynn Bradburn scored 14 points each, Kayla Fletcher had 13 and Tinesha Taylor added 11.

Rock Hill (3-10 and 1-5) was led by Elisha Daniels with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Brooke Long added nine points and three steals.

“Our biggest concern coming in was their pressure. We had some turnovers, but we handled it pretty well. We just didn’t shoot well,” said Redwomen coach Matt Fulks.

“We did a lot of things good. Elisha Daniels played real well.”

South Point led 14-12 late in the first quarter when Leighty and Bradburn hit baskets and Fletcher hit a 3-pointer and it was 21-12.

Leighty had nine points in the quarter.

The defense limited the Redwomen to six points in the second quarter while Fletcher scored eight points including a pair of 3-poiners and Bradburn scored seven points and the lead was 40-18 at the half.

Taylor scored five points and Bradburn hit a triple in the third quarter as the Lady Pointers outscored Rock Hill 12-7 to make it 52-25.
