Rock Hill cooks, bus drivers and other support staff have rejected a contract offer made late last-year by the school board.

Ohio Association of Public School Employees (OAPSE) spokeswoman Linda Bolen said when the members of Local 252 met last week, they voted 72-2 to reject the proposal made in late December. She said she planned to formally request another session at the bargaining table as soon as possible to end the disagreement. She declined to say what specific matters on which the two sides could not agree.

When the two sides do meet again, it will be with a new school board in place. Three new members, Keith Roth, Lavetta Sites and Paul R. Johnson, joined the board in January.

The union’s old contract with the board expired in June and employees have been working without a contract since then.

Board member Wanda Jenkins said she did not know if the contract talks would be discussed at Thursday’s board meeting since she had not yet seen an agenda but is hopeful an agreement between the two sides can be reached.
